MEDP in Mushroom Cultivation, Cake and Paper Bag Making for SHGs of LDV

Roing, FEBRUARY 27:  The training Programme on mushroom cultivation, cake making and paper bag making for matured SHGs of Lower Dibang Valley District under Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) began with the inaugural function cum training today at AMYAA NGO office, Roing.

The programme is sponsored by the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD). A total of 42 members from different SHGs of Lower Dibang Valley District are undergoing in the training on mushroom cultivation, Cake Making and Paper bag making. The training programme has been arranged in such a way that women attendees could start their own ventures in the above mentioned income generating activities.

The training program was attended by R.D. Singh (ADO, Agriculture), P.B.Chetry (Branch Manager, APRB), Ibi Mepo, MA Agri & MD of The Aspire Arunachal, P. Suneesh, PRO NPHC Pvt Ltd, and facilitated by R.K. Paul Chawang (Secretary) and staffs of AMYAA.

For the Mushroom Cultivation Training, delivering the technical lecture, R.K. Paul Chawang, explained the history of mushrooms, varieties and its nutritional properties, commercial value, identification of poisonous mushroom, spawn production, and cylinder preparation particularly for oyster mushrooms, followed by a demonstration.  He also emphasized the scope and importance of mushroom cultivation that would enhance the socio–economic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs.

During the demonstration, paddy straw soaking, steaming, drying and mushroom cylinder preparations were explained. The participants prepared 15 Mushroom cylinders. The interest and vigor shown by each participant made the training programme a success.

Smti Aruna Linggi and Smti Neharika Sahgel as resource persons for Cake Making and Paper Bag Making respectively, demonstrated the process of making both the items. The participating women were also given hand in experience to make on their own in groups. The AMYAA NGO with her various long term and short term programme follows the bottom –top approach aims at redefining the lives of poor in the targeted areas of the organization.
